Chris Foehl with his wife Laura and son Ethan

Name: Chris Foehl

Nickname: None that stuck

Age: 31

Occupation: Personal Trainer and Classroom Instructor

Hometown: Springfield

Favorite WOD: Too many to name, but I love anything with a rope climb!

Favorite lift: Turkish Get Up

How long have you been CrossFitting? About a year and a half.

Which class time do you usually attend? I am all over the place.

How did you find CrossFit? I literally passed the box on the way to my previous “Globo” Gym and saw a bunch of people doing crazy things outside.

What is your athletic background? None really. I have done a year or two of just about every sport then I get bored.

How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness? I have always enjoyed lifting weights and can honestly say I am much stronger then I have ever been and no longer get bored because of the diversity of the workouts. Since joining I have also expanded my Resume of Certifications to include the RKC (Russian Kettlebell Certification), which was a life goal for me. CrossFit really improved my conditioning, which is crucial for a well rounded athlete.

What motivates/inspires you? Seeing others accomplish goals they never though they could, no matter how large or small.

Name one goal/personal achievement that you would like to achieve through CrossFit: I really want to pull off a Turkish Get Up with the “Beast” (106lb Kettlebell).

Hobbies/interests outside of CrossFit? I enjoy living an active lifestyle. I started running 5Ks like the “Warrior Dash” that combine a run with obstacles. Anything that keeps me moving!

What is your favorite cheat food? I have to say pizza or soft pretzels…both are freaking Kryptonite.

Tell us something about you that most people wouldn’t know: I have only been in one fight in my entire life…no comment on victory/defeat.

Name at least one embarrassing guilty pleasure: I DVR “Pawn Stars.” I can’t help watching people pawn weird old stuff.

Any advice for new members? Never be afraid to scale workouts. We all come from different backgrounds. It may not seem like it but at one point 45 lbs was heavy even to Zach…well, maybe not, but you get the point.

Have you met Pukie? Nope, but I have succumb to laying on the floor breathless many many times.

Anyone that has spent time around Chris knows how easy he is to talk to and spend time around. Just an all around class-act. Not a bad athlete either!

PS – I’m going to be consulting you about how to juggle a new baby and working out!

I met Chris at our old Globo Gym down the road when I was throwing around kettle bells without a clue and he gave me some pointers. Few weeks later saw him at Del Val. Really good athlete and funny dude.

Chris always takes time to say hello and is does a great job at encouraging and motivating others. Turkish Get Up is your favorite, Chris? Not sure what part of a TGU is fun, but I want to be there to see when you master it with the 106# beast! You always work hard so I’m sure you’ll get it in no time!!
